Born in Glasgow, Kevin McGuire may be Scotland’s answer to the country music wave currently sweeping the UK. At the tender age of 21yrs, he already had performances at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and The o2 arena in London under his belt.
Over the last few years, Kevin has carved out a loyal fanbase across the UK, supporting artists as varied as Union J and Deacon Blue, and performances at C2C, Nashville Meets London and Nashville Nights.
In 2017 his debut release, ‘Foreign Country’ entered at #2 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart and prompted performances on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland, as well as a host of regional and specialist support.
He ended 2017 with a string of live performances, supporting Texan/British band Jess and the Bandits, including a sold-out show at The Borderline in London, to much acclaim.
This year has started with a bang as Kevin returns with a brand-new covers EP… his way of making country music more accessible, and more appealing to a younger generation of music lovers. The first release from the project is a cover of one of his personal favorites, ‘The Sound’ by The 1975, which is out now.
The EP will be released in time for the summer and will coincide with a busy few months of touring and festival appearances. It precedes his debut album, out later this year. Adding a playful dynamic to the genre, Kevin’s music boasts his own rich blend of country-influenced song writing, infused with pop-r&b. His hope is that he can inspire a younger generation of country music fans to embrace the genre, as he has done.
