Baylen Leonard: One of my favourite christmas songs by one of my favourite artists, joy from start to finish. Love the way she explains her love of Christmas and makes it feel really personal, we even get a bit of Dolly humming along with the music break. If this doesn’t make you smile, then no question, you are an actual Scrooge.
Gillian Stanwick (Team TLR): Part of me really wishes she had subtly slipped “Holly Dolly Christmas” somewhere in this song. But to kick off the album it’s a good upbeat tune with a bit of a country element to it. She adds a little commentary into it in true Dolly style to give it her own personal twist.
Baylen Leonard: Once again Dolly proves she can keep up with the kids and this song with her goddaughter Miley Cyrus is lovely.
Gillian Stanwick (Team TLR): This is a very wholesome Christmas song about appreciating what you do have and the richest gift you can have is time with your loved ones. And as Miley Cyrus is Dolly’s goddaughter and they have a really sweet relationship, this song seems like a no brainer for them to do together.
“She had to sing on this Christmas album,” Parton told ET Canada. “She was working on her own project and I said, ‘I’m not going to ask you to put it out as a single, I know you got your own thing, but you have to sing on this album with me – you and Billy Ray, because you’re like family, and I’m probably never going to do another Christmas album.’” https://etcanada.com/news/718526/dolly-parton-talks-collaborations-with-miley-cyrus-and-michael-buble-on-new-album-teases-christmas-special/
Gillian Stanwick (Team TLR): Michael Buble is the king of Christmas music isn’t he, so this duet feels like an obvious pairing! You can really hear the Buble style influence in this one as it kicks off with a bit more of a jazzy, Sinatra vibe. The song is conversational as well, which adds a fun and cheerful element to it.
Baylen Leonard: I can’t stop singing this song both in my head and out loud. I want to live in this town! This is also the title song sung by the townspeople in Dolly’s new Netflix movie, this album version is by far superior.
Gillian Stanwick (Team TLR): This is a gleeful country Christmas tune if I’ve ever heard one. I really picture everyone getting together in front of the town hall and doing a little square dancing together! The banjos and fiddles keep the song enthusiastically country, and a not so subtle mention of a “Holly Dolly Christmas”
Album Fact: is the forty-seventh solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton
Gillian Stanwick (Team TLR): The Mariah Carey version of this song is a holiday staple, so it’s a difficult one to cover! I love that they’re not taking themselves too seriously in this and it’s quite playful. Cool to see Jimmy in a different way too!
